Oshi’s care coordinators help you stay connected with your care team, make sure you have what you need to follow your personalized treatment plan, and facilitate all other aspects of your care. They’re also here to help before you begin care with Oshi by answering any questions you have.
You’re managing symptoms, work and family responsibilities, and trying to make sense of what your body needs. That’s a lot for any one person to deal with.
And just when you manage to find the energy to seek care, you find yourself stuck in a maze of referrals, insurance questions, and confusing paperwork. Ugh!
It’s not just frustrating. The stress of it all can actually make you feel worse.
That’s where Oshi care coordinators come in.
Navigating your digestive health shouldn’t have to be a full-time job. Whether you’re trying to schedule in-person testing or figure out what your insurance covers, our care coordinators help you get the care you need, minus the anxiety.
What is a care coordinator?
Oshi care coordinators are real people (not chatbots!) who work closely with your care team to coordinate your care and make your Oshi care experience easier.
They help:
- Coordinate appointments and follow-ups
- Answer non-medical questions about your care plan or how Oshi works
- You navigate next steps in your care
- Connect you to your care team for routine, non-urgent questions and conversations to support you between visits
- Make sure your prescriptions are sent to the right place
- With prescription transfers
- Facilitate referrals and identify locations for in-person diagnostics and procedures
And just like the rest of your care team, care coordinators also get specialized training in digestive health, so they understand what you’re going through and how best to support you. Many folks on the care coordination team also have experience in the healthcare administration field.
Before your first visit
Prior to meeting with a GI provider, our care coordinators work behind the scenes to ensure a smooth first visit by verifying your insurance and confirming that Oshi is in-network with your plan. If out-of-network, they’ll let you know and offer options for moving forward.
How care coordinators can help
Let’s dig into how Oshi’s care coordinators can help you navigate your GI care experience.
They keep everyone in the loop
They make sure everyone involved in your care has what they need to support you, including visit notes and other relevant paperwork. They’ll also facilitate communication between all Oshi providers involved in your care. If you already have a GI doctor, your visit notes can be shared with them—with your permission. At your request, your care coordinator can support with pulling your full medical records or gathering past test results, so your care feels seamless.
They help guide your care experience
After your visit with an Oshi GI provider, registered dietitian, or gut-brain specialist, you’ll walk away with clear next steps and personalized goals. Care coordinators work behind the scenes to coordinate labs, referrals, and prescriptions, so you have everything you need to follow your treatment plan.
But questions can still come up after visits. Whether you’re unsure about an action item or just need a quick refresher on your goals, you can reach our care coordinators on weekdays between 8:00 AM ET and 8:00 PM ET via chat, phone, or email. After hours, you’ll be directed to our on-call provider line, which is staffed by triage professionals around the clock for urgent needs.

Experiencing worsening symptoms?
Our care coordinators can quickly connect you with your GI provider, so you can quickly get the care you need without waiting for an appointment.
I have been so happy with the support I've received from my Oshi care team! From my meetings with my GI provider, dietitian, and gut-brain specialist, and the care coordinators, I've gotten all the support and information I need to manage my IBS. Everyone is unbelievably responsive.

They help facilitate labs or diagnostic testing, if needed
When your Oshi provider recommends in-person testing or procedures, your care coordinator checks your insurance eligibility for external services. They’ll also work with you to find a convenient, high-quality, in-network location and make sure your care team receives the results they need to provide you with the best care.
Plus, they deal with all the annoying stuff like:
- Securing prior authorizations for insurance, if needed
- Handling appeals on your behalf when your insurance provider denies coverage for lab work or other services
- Navigating scheduling (while appointment availability depends on each facility, your care coordinator can take on the back-and-forth of coordinating)
And if your GI provider prescribes medication, they’ll make sure the prescription gets sent to the pharmacy of your choice.

Bottom line
Oshi’s care coordinators are here to make your experience easy. Here’s how they support you:
- Keep everyone in sync. They help ensure your whole care team is on the same page, so nothing gets lost between providers.
- Guide your care experience. Whether you’re sorting out next steps or have questions after a visit, they’re here to walk through it with you.
- Make care easy to access. Need help finding an in-person testing location or scheduling a lab visit? They’ve got your back.
