How in-person GI care works in Dallas

Virtual care doesn’t mean you’re on your own when you need an in-person test or procedure.

If your GI provider determines you need bloodwork, imaging, a stool test, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, or another diagnostic test, our care coordinators can help arrange next steps with a local lab, clinic, or private practice. We can get you scheduled with a LabCorp or Quest location in the Dallas area, or with LabGenomics, a mail-in service available nationwide. We can also help coordinate your appointment with any local lab you prefer.

Your Oshi provider will review your results with you and use what you learn to guide your ongoing treatment plan.

Frequently asked questions

  • Oshi treats hundreds of digestive symptoms and conditions, including IBS, acid reflux and GERD, ulcerative colitis, SIBO, gastritis, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and more. You can get care from anywhere in the Dallas area, and you don’t need an existing diagnosis to get started.

  • Getting a traditional GI appointment in Dallas can take time. In a 2025 survey of physician appointment times, the average wait for a gastroenterology appointment in Dallas was 61 days. With Oshi, you can connect virtually with a Texas-licensed GI provider within days, often as soon as the next day—all from the comfort of home.

  • Your first Oshi visit happens virtually with a provider licensed to care for patients in Texas. They’ll take time to understand your symptoms, medical history, previous testing (if any), medications, and treatment goals. From there, they’ll work with you to create a personalized care plan and can recommend medications, additional testing, nutrition support, gut-brain care, or other next steps based on your needs.

  • Most of your Oshi care happens virtually, but some GI care still needs to happen in person. If your provider recommends labs, imaging, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, or another test or procedure, Oshi can help you find a local LabCorp or Quest facility that’s in-network with your insurance. Your Oshi care team can then use those results to help guide your ongoing treatment.

  • Cost for Oshi care in Dallas depends on your specific Texas insurance plan and benefits. Oshi partners with health plans to provide in-network GI care, and copays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket costs can vary by plan. Check your coverage and get a personalized cost estimate before getting started.

  • Oshi is in-network with many major health plans, including Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and Cigna, but coverage varies by individual plan. Enter your insurance information when you sign up to confirm your coverage and get an estimate of what you may pay.

  • Yes. Oshi providers licensed to care for patients in Texas can prescribe medications when medically appropriate and send your prescription to your preferred local pharmacy. Your provider can also order in-person lab work and other diagnostic testing when needed.

  • Yes. Because Oshi care is virtual, you can connect with your care team from Dallas and communities throughout Dallas-Forth Worth, including Plano, Frisco, Richardson, Garland, Irving, Carrollton, Addison, McKinney, Allen, Arlington, Grand Prairie, University Park, and Highland Park. You’ll just need to be physically located in Texas at the time of your appointment.

  • Your Oshi provider must be licensed or authorized to care for patients in Texas. So whether you’re joining your visit from Dallas, Plano, Frisco, or elsewhere in the state, you’ll be matched with a provider who can legally provide your care in Texas.

If you’re traveling outside Texas when your appointment takes place, let Oshi know ahead of time so the team can determine whether your provider can care for you while you’re in that state.

  • Start by checking whether the provider is in-network with your specific health plan—not just your insurance company generally. With Oshi, you can enter your insurance information when you sign up to confirm your coverage and understand your estimated costs before starting care. Because visits are virtual, you can access specialized GI care from home without limiting your search to practices within driving distance of your Dallas neighborhood.
