Welcome to Oshi Patient Stories, an interview series where we hear from the real people who have found lasting relief from digestive symptoms with Oshi’s virtual gastrointestinal (GI) care. In today’s interview, John shares how working with a full team of GI specialists made all the difference in finding relief from his GI symptoms.
John shares her experience with Oshi Health.
What has your experience been like? From first hearing about Oshi, to your first appointment, to now?
I think the thing I really appreciated about Oshi was the level of attention and care that I got from the providers right away. Even though it’s a digital platform, it was just so refreshing to have someone really listen to what I was going through and what was happening in my body and work through with me the way forward and the way back to to health. And when we tried different things, they would call back and ask about how those things were going, and if they were working well, we’d continue. If they weren’t, then we’d we’d try something else. That was just a really, really great experience. Very patient-centered, which was really refreshing.
How has your life changed since working with Oshi? What would you say to someone who is considering treatment with Oshi?
Since I started working with Oshi. I would say that my life has changed in the sense that I really understand what’s happening in my body a lot better than I did before. The caregivers at Oshi are so attentive and so good at listening and are really holistic in their approach. Working together with the GI specialist, with a dietitian, with a brain-gut specialist really helped me understand what was happening in my body and how to not just fix it, but how to accept it as a part of myself and just calm down about what was happening inside of me.
Did you find a certain provider most helpful?
I can’t really identify one specialist who was particularly helpful because the thing that was helpful for me was all of the specialists working together. Having a GI specialist, a brain-gut specialist, and a dietitian all listening to me and working together on my care program was really what did it for me. I mean, having all of those things come together and being able to talk with each one about the things that the others were talking to me about, and having them talk to each other. That, that was, I mean, just really holistic. I really felt seen and understood as a full person, rather than, you know, one doctor looking at your diet, and one doctor looking at your psychological health, and one doctor asking about your stool habits and patterns and whatever. Having all of them working together was really what did it for me.
