Welcome to Oshi Patient Stories, an interview series where we hear from the real people who have found lasting relief from digestive symptoms with Oshi’s virtual gastrointestinal (GI) care. In today’s interview with Denise, she shares how her painful GI symptoms led her to seek care, and how Oshi’s whole person approach has changed everything for her.
Denise shares her experience with Oshi Health.
How did you feel about your GI symptoms before starting care with Oshi?
Before Oshi, I was having really severe stomach problems and it felt like glass whenever I was digesting something. I was not able to get a new physician and I was just at the end of my ability to handle this, so I did try Oshi. Now, everything is just amazingly well.
What tips or strategies have you learned while working with Oshi that are helping you live a better life today?
Well, as you know, medicine has become so specialized now that you get a new doctor for every part of your body. Your teeth, your feet, your eyes, and then a doctor for every bodily system, your digestive system, your bones, your muscles, your blood. Aand now you get a different specialist to analyze the other dimensions, your emotions. In digestive issues, Oshi triaged them by taking a team approach where they assign 3 different people to help heal your entire body. It was amazing because what they did was they taught you something that you probably didn’t hear about for the last 30, 40 years. And with everything on social media, it is very hard to understand what is real or what’s true.
These professionals know what they’re talking about and they are able to help streamline some of the decision makings that weren’t going well. The team reviews different tests. They recommend tests, you know, anything from blood tests to different tests so that they can analyze them and they go over with them carefully with you. And they go over things to improve hydration and sleep, your fiber, your appetite, your hope, not just your stomach, not just your body. They showed us what they have learned when they went to school and that was very valuable too.
How would you describe your Oshi experience to a friend who’s struggling with similar symptoms?
Don’t be afraid to try Oshi. You’re assigned professionals that are experienced, they’re gracious, they’re kind, nurses, people that are experts in these areas to identify when they talk to you, what is working and not working for you specifically, not the whole world, you.
It’s very personal and it’s very effective. I think it’s the first step in being able to identify what is really going on and what are the real issues happening. Once you get that figured out, your whole disposition changes when you’re healthy. So turn on your bathroom light and settle in for a quarter of effective meetings, teaching, the laughter, tears, and more and more water, more water, more water, 64 ounces.
