Every flare is a signal, not a failure, and my job is to decode it with evidence-based medicine, practical nutrition, and real-life behavior change. I partner with patients as teammates: we set clear goals, track what works, and adjust fast. Remission isn’t luck—it’s built through consistent, sustainable habits in diet, sleep, movement, and stress resilience. I’m here to guide, educate, and cheer you on, not just prescribe.
Brendon Bower is a board-certified nurse practitioner with years of focused experience in gastroenterology, specializing in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). At Oshi, when managing digestive conditions like IBD, Brendon views medication as one piece of the puzzle—nutrition, lifestyle, and stress management are equally vital for lasting remission. He believes true healing happens in the kitchen, during sleep, and through mindset, not just in the infusion chair.
During his clinical rotations in graduate school, Brendon was drawn to the complexity of gastroenterology—how the gut impacts every system in the body, from nutrition and immunity to mental health. Seeing patients with inflammatory bowel disease regain control of their lives through targeted treatment and lifestyle changes further inspired him to make gastrointestinal (GI) care his specialty.
Prior to joining Oshi Health, he practiced in both private and academic settings in the Baltimore–Washington region, managing complex IBD cases and mentoring trainees.
Brendon serves as a faculty member of GHAPP (Gastroenterology and Hepatology Advanced Practice Providers), where he develops educational programs for nurse practitioners and physician assistants. He is an active member of the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland (NPAM) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA).
A native of Ohio, he now lives in Maryland with his wife and two young daughters. In his free time, he enjoys golf, puzzles, model building, and chasing his girls around the backyard. An avid pet lover, he shares his home with two golden doodles, two cats, two axolotls, two leopard geckos, and a bearded dragon.

Favorite Gut Health Tip
Sip warm lemon water first thing in the morning. It gently wakes up your vagus nerve, kick-starts peristalsis, and preps your gut for the day like a soft “open for business” sign. Bonus: it’s cheaper than coffee and your colon will thank you.
